In-Body Test: $49

The In-Body Test is a method of assessing your “body composition” –the measure of body fat in relation to lean body mass. It is an integral part of a health and nutrition assessment.

Why is Body Composition Important to My Health?

Research has shown that body composition is directly related to health. A normal balance of body fat is associated with good health and longevity. Excess fat in relation to lean body mass, a condition known as altered body composition, can greatly increase your risks to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and more. The InBody Test fosters early detection of an improper balance in your body composition, which allows for earlier intervention and prevention. It also provides a measurement of fluid and body mass that can be a critical assessment tool for your current state of health.

Comprehensive Blood Evaluation: $39

Most laboratories use an automated electronic system such as the sequential multiple analyzer with computer (SMAC). This equipment and procedure can accurately detect abnormalities in blood chemistry. Nutritional information can be obtained from the laboratory findings from standard blood chemistry tests; however, American medical professionals typically only look at blood chemistry for gross disease abnormalities.

Usual ranges are obtained by testing volunteers, and the ranges are typically computed as the middle 95% of these results. Volunteers are typically selected at random and are considered healthy as long as they are free of evidence of disease. Much controversy surrounds the understanding of the term “normal and healthy.” One researcher defines the “normal” person as one that has not been sufficiently evaluated! By accepting this 95% middle range as a “reference,” one assumes that only 5% of those tested are considered unhealthy. It is also possible for all laboratory results to fall within the reference ranges (considered disease free) and yet be far from optimum function. The absence of disease does not mean the presence of health.

Comprehensive Blood Evaluations at the Nutrition and Health Center
The Nutrition and Health Center evaluates blood chemistry tests from the standpoint of achieving optimal health versus identifying a manifested disease, so a much narrower reference range is used. Each individual receiving a comprehensive blood evaluation will be educated about the optimum blood parameter levels needed to prevent and reverse many dysfunctions in the body.

Mineral Hair Analysis: $129

Why test for hair minerals?

Minerals are the “spark plugs” of life. They are involved in almost all enzyme reactions within the body. Without enzyme activity, life ceases to exist. Elevations of nutritional minerals such as calcium, magnesium, etc., can mean a loss of these minerals from the body. Hair analysis is an invaluable screening tool which allows a correct program of diet and supplementation to be designed for each individual’s specific needs. Never before has there been available a metabolic blueprint with such a degree of applicable scientific accuracy.

Hair Analysis Example

Common causes of mineral imbalances:

Improper diet such as excessive intake of refined carbohydrates and sugars, strict vegetarian diets or other exclusive diets taking vitamins and minerals which are not compatible with your current body chemistry, medications, birth control pills, stress, accumulation of toxic metals from vaccination, the environment, job or hobby, inheritance of mineral patterns from parents.

Conditions which may result or be aggravated by a mineral imbalance include:

Depression, Hair Loss, Osteoporosis, Hypoglycemia, Anemia, Cardiovascular Disease, Hyperactivity, Thyroid disorders, Skin Rashes, Headaches, Prostate disorders, Emotional Problems, Arthritis, Digestive disturbance, Allergies, Hypertension, Diabetes.

Neurotransmitter Testing: $240

Neurotransmitters govern communication throughout the body.
Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers that facilitate communication between neurons, which in turn affects every cell, tissue, and system in the body.

Why Test?
Neurotransmitter testing can provide pertinent information on neurotransmitter levels. The nervous system is a coordinator of all body functions; imbalances in the nervous system can alter endocrine (hormone) function. This can cause major health imbalances.

DUTCH Hormone Test (urine): $399

DUTCH Hormone Testing
The Nutrition and Health Center utilizes the leading urinary-based testing and research laboratory in the United States to measure hormones through Precision Analytical. This advanced hormone testing was developed to improve on available hormone testing options. DUTCH offers the most extensive profile of sex and adrenal hormones along with their metabolites. Additionally, the daily (diurnal) pattern of free cortisol is included, along with melatonin (6-OHMS), 8-OHdG, and six organic acids. This unique combination of clinical information is not available by any other method.

Sample Test
  • Urine specimen collection does not require a blood draw and there are no risks to you
  • Urine collections are convenient and can be done in the privacy of your own home
  • Urine testing provides much more insight into the body than both saliva and blood testing

Micronutrient (blood): $449

What is Micronutrient Testing?

Micronutrient tests measure the function of 35 nutritional components including vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and amino acids within our white blood cells.  Scientific evidence shows us that analyzing the white blood cells gives us the most accurate analysis of a body’s deficiencies.

Be Proactive, NOT Reactive

Vitamin, mineral and antioxidant deficiencies have been shown to affect the function of the immune system which can contribute to degenerative processes such as arthritis.

Food and Chemical Sensitivity Test (blood): $499-$1,699

What is an allergy?
An allergy is a catch-all word for a wide variety of reactions to substances that the body reacts to unnaturally. When the body encounters an allergic substance, it reacts by making antibodies or releasing chemicals called histamines. When histamines and other substances are released into the body’s system, they cause an inflammatory reaction we call an allergy. A food allergy is an example of this. Click here for testimonials!

What are the symptoms?
The inflammatory reaction affects the tissue and organs, mainly the skin, mucous membranes, lungs and gastrointestinal tract. Common allergic symptoms include itching and watery eyes, runny and congested nose and sinuses, sneezing, respiratory symptoms, headache, skin reactions (itchiness, rashes, etc.) and rapid heartbeat. Other symptoms may include fatigue, intestinal gas or pain, abdominal bloating and mood changes. Click here for testimonials!

Comprehensive Stool Analysis : $395

Why a stool test?

Gastrointestinal complaints are among the most common reasons that clients seek medical care. Symptoms associated with GI disorders include persistent diarrhea, constipation, bloating, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome and malabsorption. The Comprehensive Stool Analysis is a simple stool test that can help assess digestive and absorptive functions, the presence of opportunistic pathogens and to monitor the efficacy of therapeutic remediation of GI disorders. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing to prescriptive and natural agents is also performed for appropriate bacterial and fungal species at no additional charge.

Learn More

Who should test?

This test is useful for those with gastrointestinal symptoms, autoimmune disease, joint pain, IBD/IBS, inflammation, food sensitivities, nutritional deficiencies, skin conditions (Atopic Dermatitis), and more. Impairment of intestinal functions can contribute to the development of food allergies, systemic illnesses, autoimmune disease, and toxic overload from substances that are usually kept in the confines of the bowel for elimination. After performing a stool test, efficient remediation of GI dysfunctions incorporates a comprehensive guided approach that should include consideration of elimination of pathogens and exposure to irritants, supplementation of hydrochloric acid, pancreatic enzymes and pre- and probiotics, and repair of the mucosal barrier.

Omega Check (in-office finger prick): $65-89

The Omega-3 Index is a fingerprick blood test that measures the amount of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) in red blood cells (RBC) membranes. It is expressed as a percent of total RBC fatty acids. An Omega-3 Index between 8% and 12% is associated with the lowest risk for death from heart disease and below 4% with the highest.

The Omega-3 Plus Index includes the above plus an Omega Ratio report and a Trans Fat Index report. Transfatty acids (commonly called transfats) in our blood come only from the food we eat. The vast majority (80-90%) of transfats we eat in America are industrially-produced transfats that often come in the form of fast food, cakes, cookies, pies, pastries, French fries, tortilla chips, crackers, popcorn, and stick margarines. Transfatty acids contribute to inflammation, poor blood sugar control, increases in LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, and decreases in the helpful HDL cholesterol (Mozaffarian et al. Am J Cln Nutr 2004; 79:606-612).
